Life shouldn’t be all work and no play. We would even argue that we work hard so we can have more opportunities to enjoy life outside of working hours. While we love what we do as financial advisors, we also love where we live and the abundance of activities and events we get to enjoy in the Palm Desert and surrounding areas. We are fortunate to call The Coachella Valley home, and here are some of the reasons we think it’s a great place to live.
Anyone who has kids, or plans to in the future, knows that one of the first things you look for when moving to a new community is the schools. Living in an area with great schools is essential, and we are fortunate to have plenty of options when it comes to education in The Coachella Valley. So, how good are the schools here? With an average ranking of 9/10, which puts them in the top 20% of public schools in California, they are pretty competitive. While most students here attend public school, there are also some great private school options, which provide parents even more educational choices.
When the weather is nice, which is most of the year, there are plenty of options to get outside and enjoy the dry, arid climate. Some of our favorite outdoor activities include hiking and golfing. We are fortunate to have around 100 golf courses within a 20-mile radius, many of them highly ranked and some award-winning championship courses.
Another great activity we often enjoy is hiking. With more than 100 trails to choose from in the Greater Palm Springs area, there is ample opportunity to get some exercise while exploring the beautiful desert scenery. Here is an excellent list of the 10 most beautiful hikes in the area. Aside from golfing and hiking, you can also explore by Jeep, horseback, bicycle, or even hot air balloon rides. With all of these options, there’s no excuse to stay inside when the weather is nice!
We would be remiss not to mention one of the activities this area is well known for: music and art festivals. Most people have heard of Coachella and Stagecoach, but there’s a variety of arts and entertainment activities to explore. The Indian Wells Arts Festival has been running for 20 years and is a great place to see both award-winning and up-and-coming artists. The Greater Palm Springs area is not only known for its music festivals, but its vibrant art community as well. There are numerous galleries, public art displays, and exhibitions to browse that would require multiple weekend getaways to see even half of what’s available. This is why we feel fortunate to live here and enjoy these activities year-round.

As you can see, there is no shortage of opportunities to enjoy life in The Coachella Valley. If you are looking for a desert getaway from the hustle and bustle of L.A. or Orange County, this is a great place to unwind or experience some adventure.
